TikTok Safe Zone Dimensions 2026: Exact Pixel Margins for Organic & Shop Posts

See the exact 1080×1920 margins used by 916Studio, calculate caption boundaries, and distinguish organic preview guides from official TikTok ad templates.

For a 1080×1920 canvas, 916Studio’s TikTok profile marks 130 pixels at the top, 140 on the right, 350 at the bottom, and 44 on the left. Its Shop toggle increases the bottom region to 484 pixels. Those are exact values in this tool, not a claim that TikTok publishes one universal safe rectangle for every organic post or advertisement. The useful question is which layout you are checking and how much room your essential content actually needs.

TikTok’s official ad documentation explains that the safe zone depends on format, caption length, and additional elements, and provides different templates. Use the numbers below to understand and reproduce the checker’s baseline. For a paid placement, select the current official template for the actual ad configuration and verify the live preview. This distinction prevents a precise-looking overlay from becoming an incorrect delivery promise.

1. Establish the coordinate system

Place the origin at the upper-left corner of the image. Horizontal coordinates increase to the right, and vertical coordinates increase downward. The canvas ends at x = 1080 and y = 1920. A right margin of 140 pixels therefore starts at x = 940. A bottom margin of 350 pixels starts at y = 1570. Describing both the margin and the boundary avoids the common mistake of placing a caption 350 pixels below the top instead of 350 pixels above the bottom.

Use these coordinates on the exported composition, after any crop or reframing. A landscape source inside a vertical project does not retain its original coordinate system. Position the footage in the 9:16 sequence first, then position text and other essential objects against that final canvas. If the editor shows percentages instead of pixels, divide the horizontal margin by 1080 or the vertical margin by 1920. Keep the original pixel values in the delivery notes so a second editor can reconstruct the same guide.

2. Review an organic post as a moving layout

An organic video can show account information, a description, sound attribution, engagement controls, and navigation. The exact arrangement varies. The standard preset is a visual inspection aid for those obstructions, not an empty-space requirement around every object. Background texture and decorative movement can extend beneath the interface. Protect whatever changes the meaning of the shot: a face, a product label, a number, a subtitle, or the object the speaker is pointing toward. Those elements deserve more room than a purely decorative line.

Check the opening frame, the densest subtitle frame, and the final call to action. A host may begin safely in the center and lean into the action column two seconds later. A two-line caption may become four lines after you replace a short word with a product name. Review the full movement and the longest real caption rather than a shortened placeholder. A final draft on a current phone is more informative than a desktop screenshot with interface elements manually hidden.

3. Distinguish the Shop toggle from official ad templates

The checker’s Shop toggle provides a larger lower warning region for compositions that may need additional commerce space. It changes one measurement, from 350 to 484 pixels, while preserving the other preset margins. This is useful for early composition testing, but it is not a complete simulation of a product card, anchor, expanded caption, or every ad format. A campaign carrying interactive components needs the corresponding current template and a review using the actual caption and creative configuration.

Keep separate records for an organic master and an advertisement derived from it. The ad may add an anchor or call-to-action component that was not present in the organic layout. Do not assume that a successful organic preview approves the ad version. Ask the person configuring the campaign for the placement and template they are using, then adjust the working guides before final export. The official source linked below is the place to confirm those template options; the tool remains a quick local preview.

4. Calculate the full caption rectangle

For the standard profile, the remaining rectangular inspection area is x = 44 through 940 and y = 130 through 1570. Its dimensions are 896×1440. With the Shop toggle, the lower boundary becomes y = 1436 and the remaining height becomes 1306. A caption fits only when its complete bounding rectangle sits within the chosen area. Checking the text anchor alone misses glyphs, background padding, outlines, and an animated highlight extending beyond that anchor.

Suppose a caption block is 760 pixels wide and 160 high. Centered on the canvas, it occupies x = 160 through 920, which fits the standard horizontal bounds. Its center must be no lower than y = 1490 to keep its bottom at 1570, and no lower than y = 1356 under the Shop preset. Move it farther upward if you want an internal buffer. These are geometry calculations for the selected preset, not guarantees about the interface shown to every viewer.

javascriptCalculate usable bounds from explicit margins
const canvas = { width: 1080, height: 1920 };
const margin = { top: 130, right: 140, bottom: 484, left: 44 };
const bounds = {
  left: margin.left,
  top: margin.top,
  right: canvas.width - margin.right,
  bottom: canvas.height - margin.bottom,
};
// { left: 44, top: 130, right: 940, bottom: 1436 }

5. Understand the limits of the universal box

916Studio also shows a centered 900×1400 rectangle. It runs from x = 90 to 990 and from y = 260 to 1660. Despite the convenient “universal” label, this box is not mathematically contained inside every platform profile. Its right edge extends beyond the TikTok profile’s x = 940 boundary, and its bottom edge extends beyond both the standard and Shop boundaries. Use the box as a framing reference, then check the colored platform zones as the stricter placement constraint.

If you want content inside both the universal box and the standard TikTok preset, intersect their bounds. The resulting rectangle is x = 90 through 940 and y = 260 through 1570, or 850×1310 pixels. Under the Shop preset it becomes 850×1176. This is why a subtitle can appear inside the cyan outline and still overlap an amber area. The correct response is to move the complete subtitle rectangle into the intersection, rather than treating one outline as an automatic pass.

6. Scale the guide without changing its meaning

The downloadable PNG is always 1080×1920. If your project is 720×1280, use a uniform scale factor of two thirds; every horizontal and vertical margin scales by the same amount. The standard 350-pixel bottom margin becomes about 233.33 project pixels. Keep fractional guide positions if the editor supports them, or round conservatively toward a slightly smaller usable area. Do not stretch the overlay differently on each axis, because that would change the measured shape instead of merely resizing it.

Place the PNG above the footage, extend its duration over the whole sequence, and lock the layer while composing. The overlay has transparent areas so the footage remains visible. If the entire preview turns opaque, check whether the application has interpreted the PNG’s alpha channel correctly. Before final export, disable the guide layer and inspect the actual output file. A saved project with a hidden guide is useful; a published video with red warning masks burned into it is not.

7. Finish with a placement-specific test

Export a short version containing the longest caption, the widest gesture, and the final action. Review it in the current app or placement preview with the intended description and commerce options. Watch for differences caused by text length, accessibility settings, interface language, device shape, and any added product component. Write down the configuration you tested rather than simply marking “TikTok approved.” A useful note identifies the device, application context, placement, date, and any remaining visual uncertainty.

When the real layout differs from the baseline, adapt the composition to the observed obstruction. The guide is a way to catch mistakes early, not a reason to ignore the final test. Save an organic export and a Shop or ad export separately when their text placement differs. Keep the associated overlay beside each project so a later editor understands the coordinate assumptions. That small delivery habit is much more reliable than memorizing one bottom-margin number and applying it to every future video.

Frequently asked questions

Are 130, 140, 350, and 44 pixels official TikTok requirements?

They are the exact margins implemented by the current 916Studio preset. TikTok’s official guidance uses placement-specific templates and says safe areas depend on caption length and additional formats.

What changes when I enable Shop mode?

The checker increases the bottom warning region from 350 to 484 pixels. It does not recreate every product card or ad interface.

Can content inside the universal box still be covered?

Yes. The 900×1400 box overlaps parts of several platform danger zones. Check the intersection with the selected platform’s bounds.

Can I inspect a video without uploading it?

Yes. The checker uses a temporary browser object URL to display the selected media locally. The overlay download contains only guides.
